Fatal Decision

“The fire was lit at each tea break to boil a kettle with just enough extra fuel thrown on it to warm his hands - suffering from the damp and cold of a September morning. The fire started to collapse and die. Paul was tempted to throw on more wood to sit longer and allow his thoughts to wander over and away, attempting to escape from the reality of his life with all the troublesome complications in which he found himself. Instead, he lit another cigarette. Even this mental escape was difficult.
