Fifty Forgotten Poets

When that bright light of recognition, and perhaps a glint of fame, falls upon us then maybe our first assumption is that our moment has at last arrived and, now that it is here, it will never leave us.

Of course, as the wise sages remind us, fame is fleeting and for the authors in this volume it has indeed passed, and their works are now but a distant memory in the minds of just a few.

We take exception to that. Talent endures. Perhaps styles change, fads come and go, but stories of worth, authors of talent, are still relevant and can add both to the enduring legacy of humanity and to our lives today.

Naturally the list, through decades and centuries, is long with achievers whose time has passed but let’s take a little of our time to revisit and explore those wonderful poems that made them so very popular and best-sellers, in their day.

These then are but a small selection of works whose time has now come again.
