Finding Equilibrium

Finding Equilibrium portrays the struggle we all face through the emotions of finding who we are, relationships with others, and our beliefs in humanity and the world. I wrote these series of poems in high school as I went through my journey. I explore the need humans have to find meaning and value with our peers, faced with the realization that we are actually just a small component of this massive universe. Finding the delicate balance, the equilibrium, between our personal meaning and our place within this universe, is one of the greatest challenges we face as we grow up. As we seek to find ourselves, we must often break the need to belong with the world. It is only then that we can truly think for ourselves and find equilibrium in our own minds. This battle often poses problems in relationships, work, religion, and other associations in our lives where we are pressed to fit in and feel acknowledged.
