Four Years with Five Armies

Isaac Gause, served in Company E, 2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, during the Civil War reaching the rank of sergeant. 2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry Regiment fought in the Knoxville Campaign, Battle of the Wilderness, Sheridan's Shenandoah Valley Campaign and finally the Appomattox Campaign. Gause served with distinction and went from a naïve teenage to a toughened NCO who would be awarded the Medal of Honor for capturing the colors of 8th South Carolina Infantry near Berryville.
