From Beyond

Howard Phillips Lovecraft  was an American author of fantasy and horror fiction, noted for giving horror stories a science fiction framework. Virtually unknown and only published in pulp magazines before he died in poverty, he is now regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre. Lovecraft is credited with being the creator of the Cthulhu Mythos – shared elements; characters, settings and themes used by Lovecraft and associated horror writers. Lovecraft's readership was limited during his life, but his works have become quite important and influential among writers and fans of horror fiction.

«From Beyond» is told from the first person perspective of an unnamed narrator and details his experiences with a scientist named Crawford Tillinghast. Tillinghast creates an electronic device that emits a resonance wave, which stimulates an affected person’s pineal gland, thereby allowing them to perceive planes of existence outside the scope of accepted reality.
