Gettysburg

It was not just a battle, it was a hinge upon which history turned. The tiny town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, hub of 10 roads, became, for three brief and bloody days in early July, 1863, the place at which the future of the nation would be decided. 

Would the undefeated Army of Northern Virginia, under legendary General Robert E. Lee, defeat the Union on its own soil, or would the newly-appointed Union General George Gordon Meade be able to do what no other Union general had done? The die of victory would be cast here. The generals knew it, as did the lowest-ranking private, each fighting with grim determination. 

By the time cannon smoke and dust cleared, and the field lay still, the future of America had been decided, and those who fought there would be forever immortalized in Pickett’s Charge, the Battle of Little Round Top, and the Devil’s Den.
