Ghost

Ghost estates litter Ireland like the plastic bags that once festooned the trees. Young hopefuls, like Clara, queued for hours during the time of the Celtic Tiger to buy off the plans. The unlucky ones moved into the first, and even second, releases but then the bubble burst and those pretty, fully finished houses sat behind rows of half finished shells. Roads were never finished, amenities never provided and estate agents never put a letter in the mailbox asking if they wanted to sell. The lucky ones are still waiting for a chance to own their own home.

Clara has convinced herself she needs to stay in the ghost estate where she lives until the economy turns and her house can be sold. She can't afford to walk away. But can she afford to stay?
