A financial scam isn't Patrick Dawlish's usual subject of investigation, but he finds himself playing Robin Hood at his wife's urging when they—and many others—lose money investing in a company that has since gone broke. But it doesn't take long for Dawlish to find himself on familiar ground, when he saves the company's managing director, Mr. Galloway, from being poisoned to death.


 


Not wanting police involvement, the multi-millionaire convinces Dawlish that the attempted murder is a personal matter. A close friend has become an enemy. Galloway has few redeeming qualities, and Dawlish is content to sit back and see how events play out—until his wife is abducted and threatened.
