In this hope-filled picture book, trusted therapist Sissy Goff tells the story of losing a little dog named Lucy, creating space for children facing loss to discover the comforting surprises that God brings as he meets them in their sadness. 


When a child encounters their first grief in the loss of a family member or beloved pet, those feelings can be confusing and overwhelming. Goodbyes Are Hard helps kids ages 3 to 8 give words to those feelings and to discover that there is hope on the other side of their loss. Helpful conversation starters encourage children to share more about what they're feeling, which not only allows them to process their emotions, but also sets the stage for children to welcome the joy, healing, and love to come. 


Based on Goff's experience of more than three decades sitting with kids through all kinds of loss and grief, this gentle book creates an opportunity for loved ones to connect in a caring way with a grieving child.
