Hard Guys Cry

For more than two decades, Jimmy Dennedy, a cop's cop, served the people of New York City as a member of the NYPD. First as a uniformed officer working the streets in some of the toughest crime ridden neighborhoods in his home borough of Brooklyn. Then in the NYPD narcotics division, dealing with the worst of the worst who were infesting the streets of the city with the poison that destroyed lives. And finally as a detective in the NYPD-FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force, doing just what the name says, chasing down those whose mission was to destroy the way of life of New Yorkers.

When he retired from law enforcement, Dennedy found a different calling. He established a prison ministry. For 25 years, in both Otisville Federal Penitentiary, and Shawangunk State Prison he practiced his ministry touching the soul and conscience of men like those he locked up during his days in the NYPD. For those he counseled with prison time still to be served, he turned their lives around so they could do their time in peace. And for those who had the good fortune of being released, his guidance provided the foundation upon which they built productive, crime free lives.
