It is indeed a very difficult task to trace the exact chronological history, growth and development of news papers, news reporting and journalism in any particular State of a country, far less to speak about a belt like that of Lower Assam Division in the North East India. And yet an effort is nevertheless being sought to be made hereunder towards tracing the history, growth and development of news papers, news reporting and journalism in Lower Assam down Kamrup district of the State through this small piece of work of mine under mounting pressures put up on me by some of the young, energetic and upcoming news-reporters and media persons of our place here at Hatsingimari , of Assam in the form of an article.
