Have you ever wondered what was going on in the inn the night Joseph and his pregnant wife Mary were forced to stay in the stable?
Hotel Bethlehem is a holiday farce set in the famous inn from the nativity story, year 0.
Filled with two old philosophizing shepherds, a couple of incompetent Romans, three under-cover Wise Men, a pregnant sheep named Mary, a serving girl (also named Mary), and a nearly blind Census-Taker, the inn was just too full to accommodate a very pregnant woman and her husband. And if it weren’t for the kid with the drum it might have been a silent night!
Hotel Bethlehem is the smash hit farce of the holiday season.
Colin Thomas of the Georgia Straight said, “The play delivers more belly laughs per minute than anything else in town.” "The guy’s got a Gatling gun stuffed with jokes and gags, and he just keeps firing. By the end of the evening, the target is pretty much shredded. […] Ultimately, the great pleasure of this evening is play. Drew McCreadie is very good at it."
The play premiered in Vancouver, December 2011 and was picked up for a further two years.
The play is now available for production licensing.
