I Am

In an undisclosed, but fairly close period in the future, androids accidentally gain the ability to think independently. They work alongside humans, even form relationships with some of them, and both the scientists and the androids try to figure out these new beings' place in the scheme of things.

Part 1 follows a human woman who feels she isn't seen as an individual by her fellow humans and tries to really know her android coworkers, particularly one of them she's grown close to.

Part 2 shows what happens when decision makers feel these androids need an upgrade, and the androids agree, but in a totally different way.
