In 1876: Bananas & Custer

In March 1876 the first telephone call was made - the start of the information age. In June the so-called savages with bows and arrows - the Red Indians or Native Americans - wiped out Custer and his column to the last man. The old world was literally still fighting back … at least in North America. But what else was going on in the world?
This is a diary of 1876 around the globe in that one year. 366 days (yes, it was a leap year) and 756 stories covering ordinary people, cowboys and Indians, women’s rights, fashion, science, art and literature, crime and punishment, as well as the royal shenanigans and international politics of the time.
