In the Time of Roses

In 1961, an eighteen-year-old boy joins the U.S. Navy to see some "faraway places with strange-sounding names." Six years later, he has traveled to the Far East, the West Coast, the East Coast, the Mediterranean and has gone through the Panama Canal twice. During this time, he loses his idealism, learn about love and death, fear and hatred, friendship and betrayal.
