Originally published in 1891, Oscar Wilde's Intentions is a collection of literary essays that present his views on art and criticism. Wilde’s aesthetic philosophy and his commentaries on art, literature, criticism, and society asserts the philosophy of 'art for art's sake': art is an end in itself, and literature does not need to convey didactic lessons to be valuable.
