Beschreibung des Verlags
In 1903 the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints asked James E. Talmage — chemist, geologist, and future Apostle — to deliver a course of lectures on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Twelve years later, in 1915, Talmage finished the resulting book. It has been the standard LDS reference work on the life of Christ ever since.
Talmage works systematically through the events of Christ's life in chronological order: the preexistence, the Nativity, the public ministry, the great teaching, the miracles, the Triumphal Entry, the Passion, the Resurrection, and (in distinctively Latter-day Saint chapters) the witnesses in the ancient Americas and the millennial reign. The tone is scientific where the subject permits and devotional where it requires.
This edition reproduces the complete 1915 first-edition text — all forty-two chapters. A short editor's preface places the book in its biographical and ecclesiastical context.
