Kayla The Zard

Against a background of invasion and war, the young Zard Kayla discovers that the First Law of Magic is: "There is no such thing as Magic!" He is confused. 

An inner wisdom and much learning sets him on what could be a lonely path. Drawn by the need to fight evil and protect 'The Order' he risks his own, and other peoples, lives and futures. Only a strong friendship and a dumb dog enable him to get as far as he does. Nothing is assured.

When young and innocent Ilia is kidnapped and sold into the worst sort of slavery, she discovers hidden strengths, which is just as well for she will need every ounce of courage if she is to escape, survive and maybe one day return home. Finding love and knowing loss whilst still in her teens takes it's own toll, but gives the determination to survive.


Four strangers, and a mutt, from diverse backgrounds must conquor their individual doubts, fears and failings if they are to help their peoples fight the encroaching evil. The moral high ground is not always the best, safest or most successful place for ensuring victory.
