Acting is the latest lesson for Tom Motley and Malcolm Canmore as their headmaster at the Fool School begins his search for Angelet, his estranged wife, in London with the alibi of putting on a play. However, they get sidetracked by the coronation of Edward the Confessor, whose ascension alongside King Hardknot in Winchester diverts them and necessitates more performances for a crowd of invited nobility.
