Kiekert-CS, a subsidiary of the German company Kiekert AG, is the world's largest manufacturer of central locking systems for cars. Kiekert latches are used by most major car manufacturers and the company produces more than 40 million latches per year. Kiekert's largest plant is in Prelouc, Czech Republic. Here, 1700 employees produce 100,000 latches per day, on 19 production lines, and 20 lorry loads of finished latches are dispatched daily. Materials handling equipment plays a vital role in maintaining Kiekert's large, continuously moving operation. In 2006, Kiekert began a 4-year rental agreement with Toyota Material Handling CZ. Its fleet now includes new BT Reflex reach trucks, Toyota Traigo 24 counterbalanced forklifts and BT Lifter hand pallet trucks. A flexible service and maintenance plan helps these trucks to keep Kiekert moving, day after day.
