First published in 1951, the present volume is a history of Egypt in its declining years. It details the Pharaonic struggle with the priesthoods over power, the intervention of the Ethiopians and the subsequent invasions by the Assyrians, Chaldeans and the Persians culminating in the arrival of Alexander the Great.
