President Michel Suleiman has called for the adoption of "a modern election law," saying it is the key to reforming Lebanon's political sectarian system which has been blamed by many Lebanese for the country's instability in the past. "Reform is the cornerstone for improving democratic performance. The real gateway to it [reform] is a modern election law that can ensure the representation of all Lebanese groups and parties," Suleiman told visitors on Sept. 10, according to a statement released by his office.
