Madelyn Garcia, always followed by an alternating string of good and bad luck, discovers three things after nearly losing her life during a robbery gone wrong. Number one, she can turn herself into a clawed animal. Number two, the grizzly bear that saves her life isn't really a bear. Number three, there is a whole other world that exists in a hidden, magical plane alongside the one she knows. It's a lot to take in, but luckily, Detrion Afra is there to help her.
