Les Defis de L'identite: Etude Sur la Problematique de L'identite Dans la Periode Post-Communiste en Roumanie‪.‬

* Le passe d'une personne est-il revelateur ? Les valeurs morales sont- elles indifferentes a l'identite personnelle ? Une personne peut-elle changer radicalement si les circonstances changent ? Ce sont quelques- unes des questions generales qui entourent l'interrogation specifique aux pays postcommunistes, celle de la possibilite ou non d'ignorer le fait qu'un politicien qui declare aujourd'hui ses convictions democratiques a collabore avec la police politique. Cette question, posee a travers la problematique de l'identite personnelle, porte sur une realite difficile a imaginer pour un citoyen d'une societe democratique qui n'a connu ni la torture, ni l'intimidation provoquees par la police politique sous le communisme, du temps ou il existait un delateur pour vingt personnes. Cet article examine les possibles consequences que pourrait avoir l'ouverture des archives de la police politique sur l'identite de ceux qui ont ete l'objet de la surveillance et sur celle des anciens delateurs. En tenant compte du fait que l'identite personnelle se definit en termes de continuite et d'une certaine unite, cet article analyse deux cas exemplaires , meme s'ils sont des cas limite : le premier porte sur la recuperation de l'identite personnelle par l'aveu et le deuxieme sur l'heroisme de preserver la coherence identitaire dans les cas exceptionnels. * Is a person's past revealing? Are moral values indifferent to personal identity? Can a person change radically if circumstances change? These are some of the general questions surrounding this specific issue in post- communist countries, whether it is possible or not to ignore the fact that a politician who today declares his "democratic convictions" has collaborated with the political police. This question, asked within the context of the problem of personal identity, is concerned with a reality difficult to imagine for a citizen of a democratic society who has never known either torture, or the intimidations of the political police under communism, in a time when there was one informer for every twenty people. This article examines the possible consequences which could follow the opening of political police archives for the identity of those who were "subject to surveillance" and for the former informers. Taking into account that personal identity is defined in terms of continuity and of a certain unity, this article analyses two "typical" cases even though they are limited. The first is concerned with the recovery of personal identity through confession and the second, with the heroic preservation of identity coherence in exceptional cases.
