Life’s Dues: Beginning

Linda walks into the gym, signs in and then, instead of going to the ladies dressing room or to the aerobic dance area, she scans the workout area. She sees Jason, working the bench press. Linda stalks over to the bench press machine. She snarls, “Well Jason, are you proud that you put Billy into the hospital?”
Jason has just bench pressed 325 pounds. He gets up from the machine, faces Linda and says, “I just bench pressed 325 pounds. That’s the dues that I pay to handle a punk like Billy. I didn’t go looking for Billy, Billy came looking for me. Billy found me. Billy pays his dues doing twelve ounce curls at a bar. Billy earned what his dues paid for.”
Linda snarls, “You cost Billy his job.”
Jason sighs, “I was assigned a computer to do a support task for an outside customer. Billy decided that it would be fun to just block my usage of the computer that I was assigned, when I had time scheduled. Billy’s boss, Rickey, would always back his boy up. Rickey outranks me and outranks my boss. The outside customer outranks Rickey. The guards came and extracted Billy from the computer room. Billy gave the guards quite a bit of lip. The guards didn’t argue with Billy, they just marched Billy to Personnel and Personnel told Billy that he had just earned a week off, without pay. Billy gave Personnel quite a bit of lip. Personnel then gave Billy his final paycheck. Billy apparently went off and got drunk. Billy then came back and attacked me in the parking lot of the company, where he no longer worked, and in front of witnesses. Some of the witnesses and the police said that I hit Billy with my fists. The surveillance camera says that I hit Billy with my forearms and my knee went into Billy’s groin. I don’t know I black out during times of violence. The police then disturbed a crime scene, by removing Billy. I didn’t cost Billy his job, Billy cost Billy his job.”
Linda snarls, “So you say.”
I reply, “The police refused my citizen’s arrest on Billy. I have a lawyer working on the matter.”
Linda snarls, “Billy is in the hospital and he’s hurt real bad. You don’t care.”
“I do care. Billy is in the hospital, being patched up for his next attack on me. Billy should be in jail. I have made complaint to the police and the District Attorney.”
Linda snarls, “How is Billy going to make a living?”
I say, “I taught myself how to program computers, Billy might try that.”
Linda sighs, “Billy is not the kind to do computer work. Billy is more of a manager type.”
I reply, “A manager has to get along with people. Billy was a troublemaker, not a manager.”
Linda says, “Billy just wanted to see how you would handle him being on your computer machine.”
I lecture, “I handled the matter by notifying the outside customer that I was working with. The outside customer complained. Billy’s boss, Rickey, would back his boy up. Rickey outranks me and outranks my boss. The outside customer outranks Rickey.
