In a bucket list, 13 isn't an unlucky number...unless it lands you and your daughter in the Underworld.

Dying of cancer, Alice worries her career-minded daughter will never learn to live, so she agrees to the grand adventure of a joint bucket list. But Alice doesn't expect to die in a plane crash and wake beside Claire in the Underworld, a place Alice's long-cherished religious views claims can't exist.

Things go from impossible to unimaginable when two separate kings of the Underworld express an interest in Clare. Now, Alice must protect her daughter from denizens who want to enslave them, illusions that mirror the world of the living, and the gods who rule the dead.
