Sir John George Bourinot (1836-1902) was a Canadian historian and official. He started his career as a journalist and eventually he got a job as a clerk at the Canadian Senate and later he was appointed the chief clerk of the Canadian House of Commons. He was among the founding-fathers of the Royal Society of Canada. John Bourinot wrote a number of books dedicated to the history of Canada, in which he employed both his knowledge of a historian and his experience of a civil servant.
