Growing stronger should make life easier, shouldn't it?

Pepper Karalis — technowitch, mother, and coffee shop manager — has more than enough on her plate already. But when a college student in a state of enchanted drunkenness staggers into the coffee shop, Pepper can't turn her away without trying to help. Even though that means coming face-to-face with the powerful maenads who have taken over a dorm at Pepper's alma mater.

Magical beings who worship Dionysus and cause enchanted drunkenness, maenads exist on their own terms. Driving them off and keeping the college safe isn't going to be easy.

Then there are the rest of Pepper's challenges. Minor things, like navigating her increased responsibilities at work, attending her college ex's wedding, meeting the new man her best friend is dating, and worrying what the witches who serve Tiamat are up to now. Oh, and dealing with family and the increasingly large number of witches and other magical creatures in her life.

Should be a piece of cake, right?
