At work in Hoover Dam, Dallas Mack struggles for equality. She hopes for respect, recognition, and equal pay in the white mans' engineering world. At home in Las Vegas, she strives for meaningful connections in her diverse metro neighborhood. Because Dallas believes, “When in Rome do as the Romans do,” and since she floats into and out of contrasting social circles, she has lost all sense of self and bond with community. For some reason Dallas does not understand, she attracts bad luck, not bad luck, but pure evil. Once she discovers her extraordinary potential, Dallas harnesses her gift and stops relying on others to save her. But will her magnetism and the help of new friends defeat the immortal Vlad the Impaler?
