Marker

The Great Impact nearly broke the human race. Very few of our ancestors survived the ash and ruin. They were determined to never face extinction again. They figured out how to spread across the galaxy, traveling through anti-space, or the deep, to establish the worlds. The journey was not without cost, however. Some of them...changed.

Some call them mutants. Others call them evolved. We call them markers because they mark any deepships that they travel on. Their marks attract the ravens, an elemental force from the deep with a penchant for total destruction. The Law keeps them isolated to protect us.

The markers hate us because we have freedom. Their suicide attacks leave thousands dead in their wake. The survivors are even worse off, the ghosts of the attackers and their victims seared into their being.

The markers killed my family. They killed my friends. They took my sanity. And now they'll pay.
