The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons and our members have achieved what some thought to be impossible: stripping the Texas Medical Board (TMB) of key powers. The ambitious goals set by AAPS in 2007 were partially realized in June 2011. Given that it typically takes five legislative sessions to pass a new law in Texas--which is 10 calendar years because that legislature meets only once every two years--this milestone was attained six years ahead of schedule.
