Memories of Ghosts

For thirty two years in law enforcement, James Buckley stood where most people never have to stand. He witnessed grief at the front door, tragedy on quiet roads, violence inside ordinary homes, and the lasting weight carried by first responders after the call is over.

Memories of Ghosts is a deeply personal reflection on the memories that remain long after retirement. These ghosts are not spirits from another world. They are the faces, calls, losses, questions, and moments that return in the silence. Through stories of duty, death, family pain, PTSD, forgiveness, dementia, and faith, Buckley opens the door to the hidden emotional life of those who spend their lives protecting others.

This book is also a testimony of hope. With honesty and humility, Buckley shares how faith in God has helped him face the memories that once haunted him, forgive what felt impossible, and search for peace beyond the pain. His words honor law enforcement, fire personnel, EMS workers, military members, and all those who continue to hold the line.

For anyone carrying memories they cannot forget, Memories of Ghosts offers a quiet reminder: the past may follow us, but grace can still meet us there.
