Moody's Dowgrades Five Greek Banks on Weakened Financial Strength, Keeps Negative Outlook

BUCHAREST (Romania), March 31 (SeeNews) - Moody's downgraded on Wednesday the deposit and debt ratings of five out of nine Greek banks rated by the global rating agency due to a weakening in the banks' stand-alone financial strength and anticipated additional pressures stemming from the country's challenging economic prospects in the foreseeable future. Ratings of National Bank of Greece SA, EFG Eurobank Ergasias SA, Alpha Bank AE, Piraeus Bank SA and Emporiki Bank of Greece SA. were downgraded, Moody's said in a statement. The outlook on all five banks' ratings remained negative, it added.
