Denver geologist turned PI, Cortlandt Scott, follows developments in the oil business. When one of those "developments" is the brutal murder of a "bigger than life" oil producer, Cort's friend, homicide detective Tom Montgomery, asks for help on the highest profile case of either of their careers.
