Welcome to Hawthorne Manor, a fifteen-and-a-half-star hotel with a difference – it’s run by vampires!

But nine-year-old Moth is only a half-vampire (that’s what happens if you get bitten by a vamp with only one fang), meaning he can’t fly and hates the sight of blood. He can come out in sunlight, though, which means it’s his job as Temporary Deputy Assistant Sub-Manager to run the hotel all day, while the rest of the staff snooze in the dark, creepy basement.

Bullied by the other vampires, particularly cocky Vlad the Lad, who loves to make his life a misery, Moth’s life sucks. That is until a party of school children unexpectedly check in, and Moth is faced with a new challenge: a feisty (human) girl called Mina.

Can Moth protect Mina from the vamps without revealing the truth about himself and the hotel? Or can humans and half-vampires never truly be friends?
