"Dire" is about wolves coexisting with humans, and judging them while also holding their own species to a moral high-ground. The segue into judging human behavior is taken to the next level with the story that follows, "Heist". Three men, Casey, Mateo and Wes, are in the business of burglary. The object? Diamonds. Moral high-ground and how humans live and make choices is a strong theme in this collection, and proves true even more so with the next story. "Truck Ride" is about a young boy, named Juno, who longs to be somewhere else, anywhere else, than the quiet suburb that he lives in, even if that means hitchhiking. The allure and seduction of running away do seem to thicken the wool over his eyes.

"The Jade Flamingo" is about a showgirl, Lana-Faye, who has some law-breaking tendencies and gets an impromptu visit from an FBI agent. The agent has nothing to suspect as long as she doesn't give anything away-or does he? Sometimes family isn't the best option, but the only option. In "The Box", a daughter gets a mysterious letter from her estranged mother, which leads to a very weird day. "A Dancer" is about a go-go dancer named Ainsley, who, in between gyrating hips and specs of glitter, has to figure out how to deal with his drunk mother and abusive father.
