Raised in an orphanage with the Sisters of Mercy, Lacey O'Hara was determined to forge a better life. At the age of sixteen, she left her sheltered existence behind the walls of the Nunnery and with inner grit and determination caught the first available bus North.

Over the years she worked hard tilling the soil, picking and packing fruit and vegetables as she slowly worked her way northward, searching for that one special place she could call home. It was also the time when O'Hara Lace became a reality, the day she moved into the old, run down, cane farm and began to build her new life.

But planting acres of Lavender Flowers in the middle of the sugar cane district was like waving a red flag to her neighbour, Archer Ross, who despised all 'do-gooders' with a vengeance. But it was his son, Cleveland Ross, who had the the power to hurt her the most.

Set in North Burdekin, where cane fires light up the night sky and the earth is swathed with Burdekin Snow. Where the rattle of cane trains and the smell of Sugar Cane being milled, fills the night air.
