Day light wanderings over the course of 2019 sadly dwindled, the unfortunate by product of embracing storm shooting. Having the time to visit various locations around the city during the day was already compromised by my ongoing nocturnal NYC Nights imaging project. By exploring (via ze Roof!) the captivating atmospheric moments of intense storm activity over the city, something had to give. Though this might be my last volume of day light shoots from across the city for awhile, at least the quality rose to the occasion.



I’d say the highlight day light shoot(s) for me was time spent wandering Roosevelt Island, accompanied by my Lady Judith. Broken into 3 different chapters, we took time to explore a variety of fascinating areas of the island, meticulously capturing moments. 2 bridges, a memorial to Franklin D. Roosevelt, and both the surreal interior and unique views of the city across the river. This was another reminder to me about embracing the unknown, seeing what could be seen.


While capturing moments throughout the year I acquired a new imaging tool to add into the mix - the Pentax D FA 15-30mm f/2.8 ED SDM WR. This wide angle powerhouse opened up the creative floodgates, allowing me to push the envelope with perspectives and compositions. What was really intriguing was it’s zoom ability, so I wasn’t hindered with just prime (or fixed focal length) capabilities. I’m big into options with photographic glass, and zoom lenses offer much in that way.



As mentioned above, not a large volume of shoots, yet the imagery represents quite well. Pleasure sharing moments from throughout the year!
