Pepper Rose hasn't been back to the Bear Springs Campground since she was thirteen - the same year her father died.

Now 48, the sassy, freshly retired 9-1-1 operator is done being the sheepdog of the family. Longing for a life of her own, she decides to leave her mother and childhood home for the first time and venture to the place that captured her heart so long ago. Placing her mom under the watch of her aloof and pushy twin sister, Pepper buys an RV and returns to the Sierra Nevada mountains as Bear Springs' new camp host.

But as she quickly discovers, life in paradise is not all sunsets and s'mores. On day one of her new job, Pepper learns a staff member has gone missing, and suspects that a co-worker may know more than she's letting on. The disappearance is only the beginning of a slew of troubling events, which lead to shocking discoveries and the unearthing of long-buried secrets.

Relationships new and old are tested and refined as Pepper and the Bear Springs crew must band together to overcome their trials and keep the beloved campground in business.
