Byline: Ikram Bhatti - Email: ikramb63@gmail.com Nuclear Weapons (NWs) are too lethal and dangerous. The world will never forget the horrible events when Nagasaki and Hiroshima suffered the NWs attacks. Thousands of Japanese lost their lives and more than that got injured. Majority of the victims became permanently physically disable. Later, there was a series of efforts by governments and civil society to free the world from these fierce NWs. At governmental level, using the forum of newly established United Nations Organisation, USA proposed Barouche Plan in 1946, and, then USSR counteracted with its Gromyko Plan. Both were encompassing the idea of absolute and general nuclear disarmament but due to the "mistrust", none got further progress. After USA, P-5 (USSR, UK, France and China) also achieved the status of Nuclear Weapons State (NWS).
