John Amos Comenius (1592 – 1670) was a great Czech philosopher, pedagogue and theologist. Owing to contribution of developing the universal education is considered the father of modern education. Also known for his innovation of pictorial textbooks, written in native language instead of Latin. 

“Orbis Pictus” or another name “Orbis Sensuallum Pictus” is a first picture textbook for children written by Czhech educator Comenius. This books familiars a children's encynclopedia intended for children. The book itself devided into chapters illustrated by woodcuts, which has a description in the accompaying text. The book has 150 chapters and covers a wide range of subjects including inmanimate nature, botanics, zoology, religion, humans and their activity. Now it is a great example for children to show that education is not only studying process. It is a history of human life.
