Many of the books I read on ADHD and ADD disabilities provides you with symptoms, and technical terms that are hard to read.

I understand the concerns, frustrations and overwhelming feelings you have in finding resources, and getting the support services in school for your ADHD and ADD child.

Today it seems that we not only have to understand the different stages of child development but have an education on different types of disabilities our children can developed.

My book will focus on several important issues such as temperament, sensory issues, social skills, psychological evaluation, IEP VS 504 Plan, strategies in school and home, Transition Services in high school, and diet.

I would like to tell you about my journey that has led me to writing this book. I would like to provide a personal perspective, resources and guide you in supporting your child who has been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD.

My son accomplished all his child development skills up to kindergarten. When he was in first grade, he had problems with reading comprehension and writing skills.

He was having a hard time memorizing his multiplication and spelling words.  Homework was so frustrating for us because he didn't want to do it.

Studying for a test was hard for him because he would need a week to study. He was disorganized and couldn't copy from the chalkboard to his notebook.

I knew I had to do something for him since his self-esteem was very low and motivating him to do school work was impossible.

I received a diagnosis of ADHD inattentive by his child development physician.  I could remember how overwhelmed I was at my first IEP Meeting.

There were teachers from each class, of Math, Science, Social studies, English, Special Education teacher, case manager, and counselor around this long table and I felt out numbered.

They allowed him some accommodations on his IEP in school.  He had notes that were giving to him and they help him with organization skills.

In New York State we had a teacher assistant assigned to him in science and math class.
