This early work by John Buchan was originally published in 1910 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. A classic adventure book in the Buchan mould our hero David Crawfurd travels from Scotland to Africa and though unwilling must help to stop a rising power that wishes to topple the colonial powers. Though full of stereotypes common at the turn of the 19th century this is still an exciting read and a true 'boy's own' adventure story.
