This collection is not another Bartlett’s, if only because I have included many unfamiliar, yet poignant, quotes from 337 authors, marshalled under 32 headings.
What makes my compilation special is a hefty injection of trenchant observations I have mined as a lifelong student of Emerson and Thoreau from some 15,000 pages of their journals - material not readily found anywhere else.
