Rescuing Clarice

Lying before her and murdered in cold blood were the Indians that had held her captive for years. 
She could still hear the shots being fired, but she wasn't going to stand there and wait to see who it was. Clarice tore into the woods running as fast as her legs could take her. Her feet trashed upon dried leaves and twigs which cut her, but she pushed on. 
All of a sudden a ray of light blinded her, and she ran headfirst into the strongest chest she had ever come in contact with. 
A strange cowboy that came to rescue her...But why?
