Jeniche of Antar – Daughter of Lightning

She had picked up many such names in her wanderings, not all of them complimentary. Some stuck, others didn't. Daughter of Lightning was one she was secretly fond of, bestowed on her by a sad wreck of man who she hoped was now at peace. For all her fondness of the epithet, however, it did make her wonder: whose daughter was she really?

In those years since she had run away from the horrors of her childhood, Jeniched had faced many dangers and sorrows. Each had shaped her and left its mark, and sometimes one of those names. One thing she had never faced, never had the courage to face, was the one place she now had to go to find answers and to find out who she was – her own past.

So, with courage gathered and goodbyes said, she set out alone on the final arc of her journey where all the paths of her different quests converged. And there, in the cold, high mountains of Antar, on her return to her yesterday, the truth of what happened to the world a thousand years before is finally revealed along with her inextricable connection to those distant, catastrophic events.

Yet, of the many answers revealed, will any of them be the answers she needs or even wants?
