William Butler Yeats was the one of the foremost figures in hte poetry of 20th-century literature. He was born in Ireland in 1865. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. Early works were imbued with Celtic folklore motifs and are characterized by neo-romantic style, significantly influence the occult. A row of his works were dedicated to politically national trends. After the World War I he changed the style of his poetry – he started to describe tragic historiosophical and cultural images in his works.

The author was a passionate romantic and admirer of pre-Christian Celtic antiquity, in which he saw the foundation of the spiritual rebirth of Ireland, riven by contradictions between the Catholic and Protestant faiths. Ireland's pagan past attracted Yeats also spontaneous closeness to the supernatural, elusive moments intuitive initiation to the harmony of nature. This charming legend, where the line between the Old Irish way of life and the magic world of goblins, fairies, elves sometimes is completely indiscernible - a real gift for those who like to be considered a form of prose poetry that permeates his breath all the earthly existence of human beings. Read the story till the end to know it!
