Cody's just recently met the man who fathered her. Fletcher's finally a part of her life. It's especially bittersweet now that her mother's dying of cancer. Cody's not normally a nosy sort, so she can't explain why she's gone poking around in Fletcher's basement. What she didn't expect to find is a hot guy in a cage.
