At the age of five, Sammy struggles with his size and beauty as he is not as grand as his brother Benny and is never chosen as the yearly spectacle known as the “town tree”. That however does not deter Sammy. Taking his grandfather’s advice, Sammy looks to the sky every night to thank the stars for the sun and the light which keeps him warm on the cold winter days, with hopes that the stars will bring him luck.
