Proceedings from the 2016 Dartmouth Symposium on Health Care Delivery Science

Beschreibung des Verlags

The Dartmouth Symposium on Health Care Delivery Science brings together forward-thinking health care leaders who are tackling the real and persistent issues around delivering high-value health care. This book includes the proceedings from the 2016 Symposium, which took place in Hanover, NH from April 7-9, 2016.

The 2016 Symposium focuses on scaling up. What happens when you go big?

Much of the Affordable Care Act, as well as the culture of redesign in individual organizations, relies on scaling up the most successful examples from a portfolio of small experiments in changing health care delivery. Scaling an initiative from pilot to enterprise-wide or beyond involves a host of additional challenges and opportunities. How can we improve the odds that the right experiments will scale successfully?

At the same time, on an industry level, scaling up appears as a trend toward consolidation. What makes a merger or acquisition successful?

Invited participants, along with students, faculty and alumni of Dartmouth College’s Master of Health Care Delivery Science program, discussed innovative approaches to scaling up health care delivery – models that have been successful in a variety of health care contexts.

This book includes video recordings and written summaries of each session, video interviews with attendees capturing their reflections, and links to additional readings and resources on the topics of scaling up in health care delivery.
